My Hearfelt Gratitude to God for the Successful Operation on my Mother

Today, August 20,2010 at 7:00 AM, my mother had an operation to put a DVT filter to prevent the blood clots in her both legs to go to the lungs and heart which is fatal. I thank God that the operation went well. God granted our prayers and His faithfulness and great might are again proven.

What Is Deep Vein Thrombosis?

A deep vein thrombosis is a blood clot that forms in a vein deep in the body. Most deep vein clots occur in the leg or hip veins. They also can occur in other parts of the body. Blood clots in the veins in the thigh are usually more serious than blood clots that happen in veins in your lower leg. If a clot in a vein breaks off and travels through your bloodstream, it can lodge in your lung. This is called a pulmonary embolism, which is a very serious condition that can cause death.

Anticoagulants (sometimes called blood thinners) decrease your blood's ability to clot. They are used to stop clots from getting bigger and to prevent a blood clot from forming. Anticoagulants do not break up blood clots that have already formed. The most common side effect of anticoagulants is bleeding. Vena cava filters are used when you cannot take medications to thin your blood, or if you are taking blood thinners and continue to develop clots. The filter can prevent blood clots from moving from the vein in your legs to the lung (pulmonary embolism). The filter is inserted inside a large vein called the vena cava (through the neck). It can catch the clots as they try to move through the body to the lungs. This treatment will prevent a pulmonary embolism, but will not stop you from developing more clots.

Your doctor may prescribe graduated compression stockings to reduce the chronic swelling that can occur in the leg after a blood clot has developed. (My mother hates these stockings!)

Atherosclerosis (also known as arteriosclerotic vascular disease or ASVD) is a condition in which an artery wall thickens as the result of a build-up of fatty materials such as cholesterol. It is commonly referred to as a hardening or furring of the arteries. It is caused by the formation of multiple plaques within the arteries. Arteriosclerosis is a general term describing any hardening (and loss of elasticity) of medium or large arteries.

A stenosis is an abnormal narrowing in a blood vessel or other tubular organ or structure.

Considering all these complications, I thank all those in the caring group and my Landbank friends as well as other faithful friends and family members who made their prayers for a successful operation on my mother.

May God bless us!

A Prayer for my Mother

It has been a year now since I thanked God for the blessings and miracles He sent my way in taking care of my then 86 year old mother. Now, she is 87 years old and has been frequenting the hospital for various ailments from pain management to lung congestion to heart illness. It is very sad that my daily prayers for her healing and well-being seem to be denied by the consistent occurrences of her weakening condition.

I do not take these sad experiences against God for He already gave me the best gift I can ever have which is the 87 year gift of life given to my mother. She devoted here whole life loving and providing for us, her family. Her wisdom is reflected in her words of advice for my life's trials and disappointments. Her help is always coupled with love and understanding. She does not expect repayment for her works of charity. My mother is a priceless gift from God.

With her weakening condition, I lift up to God my mother and I look forward to God's answer for me to say my thanks to Him again!

THANK YOU NOTE TO GOD

Thank you for blessing me with a Godly, loving and compassionate Mother.

Thank you, for despite her age of 86 years and weakening body, she still has a lucid mind to recognize and appreciate my acts of love and services to her.

Thank you for giving me the patience and committment to do humble works for her despite her increasing dependence on me.

Thank you for giving me the financial capability to buy her medicines, toiletries, food and diapers which has given me a chance to compensate for all the financial support she gave me when I had no means to financially support myself.

Thank you for all the T.V. shows we enjoyed to view together and delicious pizza we shared to eat together.

Thank you for giving us time to share our personal stories together as a prelude to a relaxing sleep.

Thank you for the good personal values, as thrift and humility, which my Mother taught us through her lifelong example.

Thank you for my brothers and sisters who love my Mother very dearly giving her strength to move on with life.

For making all of these possible, thank you God.
